Yemi Alade was raised in a multi-ethnic household in Nigeria. Her mother Helen Uzoma is from Abia State, Nigeria, and her father James Alade was a police commissioner from Ondo State.

Yemi Alade attended Victory Grammar School for her secondary school education the proceeded to the prestigious University of Lagos where she obtained her first degree.

Career

Yemi Alade signed with Effyzzie Music Group after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009, and in 2014, her single “Johnny” became a hit.

Since then, Yemi has risen to popularity in the music business and is now regarded as one of Africa’s biggest performers.

She started world tours immediately after the release of her albums King of Queens and MamaAfrica, both of which saw tremendous financial success.

On October 2, 2014, Alade released her debut album King of Queens. The album gave birth to her most popular single, Johnny, as well as other singles like “Kissing,” “Tangerine,” and “Taking Over Me” with Phyno.
